One way in which modern violin making is different from that of the past, is the collaboration between violin makers . From the "secrets of Stradivari" to the revolution of communication. Being in touch with my colleagues, exchanging ideas, and looking at each other's work is crucial for my own development. I actually think this is the main reason that the level of modern violin making is so high. One fun project I took part in this past year is called "Violinbox" . It's a violin built by 10 violin makers around the world, each of us using materials grown in our own locations and involving other artisans from our communities.
